About Janie
Janie Horton is a pianist, composer, and dancer whose debut CD, "a gift from janie" reached #13 on the New Age Voice Charts upon its release in February, 2000, and she has performed all over the world, most recently in Shanghai, China. She has recently released her second CD entitled "Heavenly Whispers" and it is being widely recognized as yet another beautiful compilation of her compositions.
Janie's background: Born, raised, and resided in Oklahoma 1957 - 1985, resided and worked in healthcare and continued to perform with local bands in Naples, Florida 1985 - 1997, moved, and currently resides in the San Francisco Bay area, California since 1997. She received her Bachelor of Music Degree with Distinction in Piano Performance from the University of Oklahoma in 1979, and her Master of Business Administration Degree from Nova University in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida in 1994. She began the studies of dance and piano as a very young girl, performing in the local Civic Ballet, and winning many piano performance awards. Upon graduation from college, she taught piano and performed keyboards and vocals with a local band that received national acclaim by winning a national competition in 1983, resulting in a U.S.A. tour covering more than 40,000 miles. Her work in healthcare in Florida built her awareness of the pressures and pains caregivers and family members often endure. While in Florida, she returned to school to receive her business graduate degree. She is also the mother of one teenage son.
What does METAXY offer?
METAXY is the name of Janie's company taken from the Greek language meaning "realm of (the) soul", and it exemplifies the type of connection Janie is attempting to create with people through her gifts of piano music and dance. Janie's music CDs and videos are available for anyone in need of comfort and soothing. Her efforts are charitable, and it is her desire to have her "gifts" utilized for this main purpose· ·..to comfort people in pain and stress. Janie continues to voluntarily perform for the Relay for Life events sponsored by the American Cancer Society around the Bay Area, for Hospice events, and she continues to work closely with the Centre for Living with Dying in Santa Clara, CA by playing her music at their events. Janie and the dancers have performed in venues on both coasts of the United States, receiving comments from audience members expressing how the performance is relaxing, healing, and how it awakens one's own introspection. Janie's performances as a solo pianist for large audiences and small in such countries as South America, New Zealand, and most recently China, where she performed with internationally acclaimed violinist, Daniel Kobialka, have been received warmly and affectionately. Her music continues to be played and reviewed on radio stations and in stores in countries such as Romania, Hungary, Australia, Taiwan, and China.
